November 27th marked the 86th anniversary of Charents’ death.
It’s noteworthy that “Yeghishe Charents: Epigrams and Satirical Poems” collection presentation happened (compiled by Gohar Charents, illustrated by Armen Vardanyan). The director of the House-Museum Zhanna Manukyan mentioned in her speech that the printing of epigrams is a bold step, which gives an opportunity to present Charents individual without templates. Granddaughter of the poet and senior researcher of the House-Museum Gohar Charents, spoke about the long and difficult process of the creating the book. She noted that Charents created these epigrams under severe persecution, when it became evident that it was no longer merely a literary battle, but also faced physical reprisals. Literary expert Arkmenik Nikoghosyan noted that it is the first time the epigrams are published in full without editing. Artist- sculptor Armen Vardanyan spoke about the creation of book caricatures. Friend of the Charents family Khachik Vardanyan also spoke about the importance of publishing the book. P.H.D professor Samvel Muradyan summarized the literary speech. For the first time, caricatures of Charents’ epigrams were also shown. Songs by author-performer Narek Kosmos were played, featuring the words of Charents.
And the day ended with praise of cognac.
